Opis taksona

Elateride ili skočibube su kosmopolitska familija insekata koji se karakterišu posebnim mehanizmom za skakanje. Kada se nađu na leđima aktiviraju ovaj mehanizam i uz karakterističan zvuk “klik” odskoče naviše. Larve im žive u zemlji i liče na parče zarđale žice po čemu su poznati i kao žičnjaci. Larve pričinjavaju velike štete u poljoprivredi.
